11. Classmates
I am in my third year at secondary school. There are about twenty-eight of us in the class. So, it is not too big. It is not too small but it is not too big. I get on pretty well with most of the other people in my class. It is a mixed school but in our class most of the girls stick together and most of the boys keep in their groups. Luckily my best friend is in the same class as me. That is really nice. We do a lot of things together after school and sometimes at weekends. She is really great. We can tell each other everything and we get on really well. She is pretty clever in class but she is also great fun and pretty wild sometimes. So, I really like her. I must say we get on well together. There are a lot of different characters in the class. It makes our life in the class interesting. Like the twins Jacqueline and Josephine. They are really funny and they have lots of boyfriends and a wild social life. They are always a lot of fun. And then there is Angela who is, oh God, so beautiful. Actually, she is also really nice. You know, we wear a school uniform but even in a school uniform she looks really beautiful, just like a model. I don’t look pretty at all. Even after we have a games lesson or tennis she always looks beautiful. I don’t know how she does it, but actually, she is really nice, too. She is a bit quiet but she is really nice. And then, there is the sort of class leader. She is not pretty, actually, or anything like that. But she just puts herself in the position of leader. She is really bossy and thinks she is wonderful. And she is pretty sarcastic. I don’t like her very much. We all just more or less get on together though. With some of them, you know, we do not really go out in the evening or at weekends, but we get on all right though.

12. Colds and Flu
It’s January now. I haven’t caught a cold and I haven’t got flu. So, I think I am really lucky. I think I had more colds when I lived in England. In the winter, it is always so wet, cold and windy. You get wet on your way to work if you have to travel by public transport. Then you get to your office and you have to sit all day in wet clothes. When I catch a cold, I feel cold and then hot. I start sneezing. And I get a high temperature. Then my nose starts running. I have to blow my nose every five minutes and I really hate it. You can’t breathe through your nose. And it is really uncomfortable. And there is nothing you can do about it. You can take vitamins, eat a lot of fresh fruit and drink a lot of hot tea. But I don’t think anything works. Not really. And if you get a bad cough you can get some cough medicine. But most people don’t go to see the doctor. There is nothing the doctor can really do. I think the best thing is to continue your normal life. I always try to get a lot of fresh air and go for long walks. I don’t like to stay at home in bed. I don’t really have flu very often. The first time I had flu was four or five years ago. I had no energy. I did not want to get out of bed. I did not want to eat. I didn’t want to drink. I just felt dead. I just wanted to stay in bed and sleep. I could not imagine what was wrong with me. Real flu is horrible. And again, there is nothing you can do. There are some medicines and hot lemon drinks. They help a little bit. But all you can do is stay in bed and just sleep until it goes away. If men get flu they always think they are dying. They think that everyone has got to cook special food and do everything for them. But women just wait until they get better.
