После происшествия клиническая бригада должна собраться для обсуждения вопросов дальнейшего оказания помощи пациенту, а также любых возможных изменений в общей лечебной тактике, принятой в отделении (см.: Gunn 1979). Для психически больных должны быть пересмотрены назначенные им лекарства и дозы препаратов. Если насильственные действия совершены пациентом с первичным расстройством личности, то при оказании неотложной помощи может потребоваться медикаментозное лечение, но поддерживающей лекарственной терапии, как правило, лучше избегать. Принимаются и другие меры, в частности направленные на то, чтобы исключить или свести к минимуму факторы, провоцирующие насилие; целесообразно также обучить пациента более конструктивным способам снятия напряжения, таким как физические упражнения, или посоветовать ему в определенных случаях обращаться за помощью к кому-либо из сотрудников клиники.
